What we hold

• Your name, email and, if you add one, your phone number
• Your university email, when you use one, and the campus it belongs to
• What you are looking for: location, dates, budget, unit type
• Listings you post, including photos and the terms you enter
• Messages you send through TakeOver
• A lease document, if you upload one for verification

What other people see

Before you connect, somebody looking at your listing sees your first name, your last initial and your badges. Not your email, not your phone number, not your exact address.

When more is shown

• Your full name appears once you reply to somebody
• The exact address is released in the conversation, by the lister, when they choose to
• A co-pilot you invite sees everything on that one lease, and nothing on any other

Your lease document

A lease usually carries a Social Security number and a signature, so it is treated as the most sensitive thing you can give us. It is used to check a name and an address against the listing, it is never shown to another member, and it is deleted once the listing is closed.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers
• We do not use anything about you to rank listings (see the fair housing notice)
• We do not put personal details in a URL, so a link you paste somewhere carries nothing about you
• We do not run third-party trackers unless you accept them

How long we keep it

Your account and its content stay until you delete them. A closed listing keeps its conversations so both sides keep their record, and drops its lease document. Delete your account and we remove you, your listings and your saved searches; messages you sent remain in the other person’s thread.

Where it lives

On servers in the United States, with our hosting and payment providers. Payment card details go straight to the payment provider and never reach us.

What you can ask for

A copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. Email us and we will answer within thirty days.
